IoT Project Guidance And Training

Guidance for Btech Projects and Mtech Projects

Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the fastest growing sections of electronics and IT industry because its applications are limitless. Now a days good use of IoT technology is already available in the market, and even common people don’t hesitate to use this technology in their daily life. It can be monitoring and controlling a farm remotely from farmers home, doctor keeping a watch on his patients admitted or outpatient from anywhere in the world, etc…

IoT is the network of physical devices, buildings , vehicles and other items—embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data. If we take a sample of smart farm, which can be monitored and controlled remotely, there will be different types of sensors deployed all over the farm which will collect data (moisture level, water level, ph, motor running status etc..) and transmit it to a local central unit through RF or remote server through internet. The farmer can access this data collected in server from his phone or other devices and control it from anywhere in the world. In short IoT is the hands and ears of Digital world to our physical world. This will increase efficiency and reduce waste, human effort and repeating cost.

Sensors

Sensors are the eyes and years of every IoT based system which will read, sense and collect data from physical world. There are lots of sensors available for this purpose some of them are
Temperature Sensors
Proximity Sensors
Pressure Sensors
Gas Sensor
Smoke Sensor
PH Sensor
Water Quality Sensor
Chemical Sensor
IR Sensor

Communication Protocols

Communication protocols are the nerves which transfer collected data from one place to another. Also they will provide communication to device control units. They can be classified in to two category they are short range and long range communication. The main types of protocols used in IoT communications are

    Short range

  • Wifi
  • Zigbee
  • NFC
  • RFID
  • Z-wave
  • Thread mesh network
  • EnOcean

    Long range

  • Cellular
  • MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport)
  • CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol)
  • DDS (Data Distribution Service is a standard
  • AMQP (Advanced Message Queuing Protocol)
  • LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area network)
  • SigFox

Device Control Units

Control units used in a IoT system can be Relays which will turn ON/OFF a device, or valves which will control flow of a liquid which need to be controlled.

Status Display Units

These are the parts which will display the status of the devise connected and real time analysis of different combination of sensors n the system. There are two types of display units available in the market. They are
    Wearable Electronic Devices
  • Head - helmets, glasses
  • Neck - Jewellery, collars
  • Arm - Wrist Watch, Wrist Band, Rings
  • Torso - Clothing Pieces, Backpacks
  • Feet - Shoes Socks
    Basic Devices
  • Desktop
  • Tablet
  • Cellphone
